Pursuant to the provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, being Act No. 247 of 1968, as reenacted and amended by Act No. 170 of 1988,[1] there is hereby established a Planning Commission in and for the Township of Upper Makefield.

The Planning Commission shall consist of seven members who shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a term of office of four years or until their successors are appointed and qualified, except that the terms of office of the original members and the two new member positions shall be so fixed that not more than two members shall be reappointed or replaced during any future calendar year.
The Planning Commission shall have all the powers and duties conferred and imposed upon it by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code and shall make and alter all rules and regulations for its own organization and procedure, consistent with ordinances of the Township and laws of the commonwealth.
All members of the Planning Commission shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for necessary and reasonable expenses as approved by the Board of Supervisors. The Commission shall make an annual written report to the Board of its activities and may make such interim reports as are necessary or requested by the Board.
