Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:46-2.1, there is hereby created the office of Deputy Borough Clerk, who shall be appointed by the Mayor and Council of the Borough at the organizational meeting or any time thereafter, in the event such appointment by the Mayor and Council is deemed advisable or necessary.
The term of office of the Deputy Borough Clerk, whose office is herein created, shall expire on December 31, of the year in which the Deputy Borough Clerk is appointed, and until his successor is appointed and qualifies.
The duties of any Deputy Borough Clerk to be appointed as herein provided shall be to aid and assist the Borough Clerk under the direction and supervision of the Borough Clerk, to do and perform such duties as may be assigned by the Borough Clerk, the Mayor and Council, or the chairman of any committee of the Borough Council, and to have all the powers and perform all the duties of the Borough Clerk for such times and for such specific periods as the Borough Clerk shall be absent.
The salary of the Deputy Borough Clerk shall be such as shall be fixed by resolution of the Borough Council or by the Borough's Salary Ordinance.
