Pursuant to Section II of the Uniform Fire Safety Act of New
Jersey (P.L. 1983, c. 383),[1] the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced
in the Township of Knowlton.

The local enforcing agency shall be known as the "Bureau of
Fire Prevention," which is hereby created in the Township of Knowlton.
The local enforcement agency shall enforce the Uniform Fire
Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted pursuant thereto
in all buildings, structures and premises within the Township of Knowlton,
other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings, and shall
faithfully comply with the requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety
Code.
The local enforcing agency established herein by § 29-2 of this chapter shall carry out the periodic inspections of life hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
The local enforcing agency established herein by § 29-2 of this chapter shall be under the direct supervision of the Fire Prevention Official, who shall be the Fire Subcode Official appointed by the Township Committee, according to law.
The local enforcing agency shall be under supervision of a Fire
Official, who shall be appointed by the Township Committee to serve
for a term of one year and shall thereafter be appointed annually
at the Township annual reorganization meeting. Any vacancy shall be
filled for the unexpired term by the Township Committee. Inspectors
and other such employees, as may be necessary in the local enforcing
agency, may be appointed by the Township Committee, after the recommendation
of the Fire Official. All additional inspectors or employees shall
be appointed annually by the Township Committee at the annual reorganization
meeting, as deemed appropriate and necessary by the Township Committee.
Pursuant to § 29-15 and § 29-17 of the Uniform
Fire Safety Act, any person aggrieved by any order of the local enforcement
agency shall have the right to appeal to the Warren County Construction
Board of Appeals. The Fire Official shall notify any aggrieved party,
upon request by that party, of the party's right to appeal and
the time frame within which the appeal must be taken. The Fire Official
may provide written notice to such aggrieved party of the rights to
appeal.
The inspections and permits and frequency of inspections, as
set forth in the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code (N.J.A.C. 5:18 and 5:18B),
are herein adopted by reference, as if set forth at length herein.
In addition to the fees, pursuant to the Act and the regulations of
the Department of Community Affairs, the following additional inspections
and fees shall be required as follows:

Factories shall be inspected yearly with a fee schedule of:

Repair shops and service business shall be inspected yearly with
the same fee schedule as that pertaining to mercantile business.

All other types of structures and facilities not otherwise described
or included in this section shall be inspected yearly with the same
fee schedule as that pertaining to mercantile businesses.
