The Town Board shall divide the Town into six wards and fix
the boundaries thereof. So far as possible the division shall be made
so that each ward shall be in as compact form as practicable and the
number of inhabitants in each ward, based upon the last regular federal
census, shall be substantially equal. In so dividing the Town into
wards, Town election districts may be divided. When the Town Board
has determined, by resolution, the boundaries of the wards, the ward
boundaries shall be deemed established. After the boundaries of the
wards have been established by the Town Board, the Board shall cause
a map of the Town showing the location of each ward and boundaries
thereof to be filed in the offices of the Town Clerk, County Clerk
and County Board of Elections. After the initial establishment of
the ward boundaries, the Town Board shall have authority to modify
those boundaries in accordance with law.
