The purpose of this article is to protect the residents of the Village of Oxford from nuisance by animals usually known as "farm animals" or "fowl."
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FARM ANIMALS OR FOWL
Cows, cattle, horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese or other animals or fowl usually known as "farm animals" or "fowl," but not solely limited to the aforementioned and not including common household pets.
PERSON
An individual, firm, partnership, limited association, corporation, voluntary association and/or other legal entity.
PREMISES
Any privately owned house, garage, barn, building or structure or grounds thereof of any kind or nature.
No person shall keep, shelter or own any farm animal or fowl within the Village of Oxford limits on those premises that are not designated as farm zones by Local Law.
Exemptions to this article are any location previously established as a working farm and has been in active, continuous operation and is the primary income of the owner of said location prior to 1999 and sold hereafter for the primary purpose of primary income of the new owner, property zoned as farm land or any property specifically exempted by the Village Board of Trustees.
Any person violating any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a maximum fine of $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both.
