Borough of Chatham, NJ Chapter 228 Smoking

Article I Smoking Prohibited at Schools, Library of the Chathams, and Borough Hall

§ 228-1 Prohibited acts.

A. Smoking and/or discarding of smoking-related products is prohibited in any area of any building of, or on the grounds of, any public or nonpublic elementary or secondary school, regardless of whether the area is an indoor public place or is outdoors, in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act, N.J.S.A. 26:3D-56 et seq.

B. Smoking and/or discarding of smoking-related products is prohibited in any area of any building of, or on the grounds of, the Library of the Chathams and Borough Hall.

§ 228-2 Enforcement.

This article shall be enforced by the Police Department of the Borough of Chatham, and any person may initiate enforcement by registering a complaint with the Police Department.

§ 228-3 Violations and penalties.

Any person violating any provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalties set forth in N.J.S.A. 26:3D-62(a) and (f).
