There is hereby established and created, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146,
a board to be known as the "Board of Assessors," which Board shall consist
of three members to be appointed by the Township Committee of Hampton Township.
The amount of compensation of the members of the Board of Assessors
shall be fixed annually by the Township Committee of the Township of Hampton.
The Board of Assessors shall make all assessments on real property within
the township for the purpose of taxation, in accordance with the laws of the
state relating to taxation.
The initial terms of office shall be one member for two years, one member
for three years and one member for four years. All subsequent appointments
shall be for a term of four years. A vacancy other than due to expiration
of term shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
