[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Babylon 9-7-1994 by L.L. No. 26-1994. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The elective office of the Town of Babylon Superintendent of Highways be and hereby is abolished.
This chapter is subject to a mandatory referendum and shall not take effect unless and until it shall have been submitted to the electors of the Town of Babylon at the general election to be held November 8, 1994, and shall have been approved by a majority of all the votes cast for and against it at such election.[1] Upon approval by the electors, this chapter shall take effect immediately upon filing the required certified copies thereof in the office of the Secretary of State in Albany and shall apply to the Superintendent of Highways elected November 1993.

The ballots to be furnished for the use of the voters upon the submission of this chapter shall be in the form prescribed by the Election Law, and the proposition to be submitted shall be printed thereon in substantially the following form, namely, "Shall the local law adopted by the Babylon Town Board on September 7, 1994, entitled `A local law providing for the abolishment of the Elective Office of the Town of Babylon Superintendent of Highways be approved?'
