Pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Utilities Authorities Law (P.L. 1957, c. 183) of the State of New Jersey, particularly Section 6 thereof,[1] the Monroe Township Sewerage Authority is hereby reorganized as a municipal authority and as a public body corporate and politic under the name and style of the "'Monroe Municipal Utilities Authority." The Monroe Municipal Utilities Authority shall have all of the rights and powers granted by said law and shall be subject to all of the duties and obligations imposed by said law and subject to the rights, if any, of the holders of any bonds or other obligations of the Monroe Township Sewerage Authority heretofore issued and shall be the successor in all respects to said Sewerage Authority and forthwith succeed to all rights, property, assets and franchises of said Sewerage Authority. The said bonds or other obligations, if any, of said Sewerage Authority shall be assumed by and become the obligations of the Monroe Municipal Utilities Authority, and the property of said Sewerage Authority shall be vested in said Monroe Municipal Utilities Authority.

Said Utilities Authority shall consist of five members and one alternate, who shall be appointed by the Township Council. All terms existing at time of passage of this chapter shall continue. Each regular member and the one alternate member shall serve for a term of five years. On or after January 1 in each year after any such five-year term shall expire, the Township Council shall, by resolution, fill such vacancy for a term commencing on February 1 in such year and expiring February 1 in the fifth year after such year. In the event of a vacancy in the membership of the Municipal Authority occurring during an unexpired term of office, a person shall be appointed as a member of the Municipal Authority to serve for such unexpired term.
The Monroe Municipal Utilities Authority hereby created is a municipal authority as contemplated and provided for by said Municipal Utilities Authorities Law[1] and shall have and exercise all of the powers and perform all of the duties provided for by said Municipal Utilities Authorities Law and any other statutes heretofore or hereafter enacted and applicable thereto.

The Municipal Utilities Authority may, by resolution, pay its regular members and alternate member an annual salary for services rendered not to exceed $750, and the Chairman's salary not to exceed $1,000.
A copy of this chapter duly certified by the Township Clerk shall forthwith be filed by said Township Clerk in the office of the Secretary of State of the State of New Jersey.
