A Beautification Advisory Council is hereby created in the Town
of Huntington for the purpose of advising, promoting, and enhancing
the natural beauty and general appearance of the Town.
(A)Â
The Council shall report to the Director of the Department of Planning
and Environment and shall consist of 11 members who shall be appointed
by the Town Board.
(B)Â
The Council shall select from its membership a Chairperson and Vice
Chairperson.
(C)Â
All members shall possess and demonstrate a general interest associated
with the purposes and pursuits of the Council's endeavors.
(D)Â
The Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and all members of the Council
shall serve without salary or compensation.
Each member shall be appointed for a term of five years. Any
appointment to fill a vacancy of an unexpired term shall assume the
term of the vacated position.
The Council shall:
(A)Â
Make recommendations to and cooperate with the proper town authorities,
departments and agencies concerning landscaping and general appearances
of all areas in the Town of Huntington.
(B)Â
By informing the public of the need and importance for their interest,
cooperation and support in developing and maintaining a beautiful
Town of Huntington.
(C)Â
Appoint advisory groups and committees necessary to extend the efforts
and purposes of the Council.
(D)Â
Investigate, research and collaborate with other entities, when appropriate,
to fund beautification projects consistent with the pursuit of the
Council's endeavors.
(E)Â
Advise the Town Board and the Director of the Department of Planning
and Environment of grants and other funding available and the reasonable
basis for allocation of these funds to beautification programs consistent
with the purpose of this chapter.
The Council shall meet a minimum of nine times per year and
at such additional times as the Chairperson of the Council or a majority
thereof may determine. The Council shall keep the minutes of its meetings,
consultations and proceedings. A quorum of the Board shall be duly
constituted with 1/3 of the voting members present.
