§ 10-1 Establishment.

There is hereby established in and for the City of Ventnor City a Municipal Court in accordance with the provisions of P.L. 1948, c. 264, as amended by P.L. 1948, c. 394,[1] which court shall be known and designated as the "Municipal Court of Ventnor City."

§ 10-2 Presiding officer.

Said Municipal Court shall be presided over by a Municipal Judge, who shall be appointed to said office by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Board of Commissioners, for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.

§ 10-3 Compensation of Judge.

Said Judge shall receive an annual salary as established by City salary ordinances.[1]

§ 10-4 Jurisdiction.

Said Municipal Court and the Judge thereof shall exercise jurisdiction in all cases now or hereafter provided for by law and by the rules of the Supreme Court.[1]

§ 10-5 Creation of office; appointment.

Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 2A:8-13 et seq.,[1] there is hereby created the office and position of Clerk of the Municipal Court of Ventnor City, who shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners.

§ 10-6 Authority and duties.

As such Clerk of the Municipal Court of Ventnor City, he shall carry out and do and perform such duties and shall possess and have full authority as granted by statute. In addition and when so designated by the Judge of the Municipal Court of Ventnor City under the provisions of Rule 7:7-1 et seq., he may carry out the functions and duties of a Violations Clerk as set forth in said Rule 7:7-1 et seq.

§ 10-7 Bond.

Before entering into and upon his duties as Clerk of the Municipal Court of Ventnor City, he shall enter into bond in an amount required by the City authority as determined by good and sufficient cause, with good and sufficient surety to the City of Ventnor City, County of Atlantic and State of New Jersey, as required by law, conditioned for the faithful performance of his said duties.

§ 10-8 Compensation.

Any person appointed to said office and position as Clerk of the Municipal Court of the City of Ventnor City shall receive as compensation such salary as determined in accordance with the salary ordinances as implemented within the City of Ventnor City.[1]
