There is hereby created the position of Deputy Chief in the Fire Department of Ventnor City, New Jersey.
The Deputy Chief shall perform such duties and functions as shall be assigned to him by the Chief of the Fire Department. Furthermore, any person appointed to said position shall, in the absence, illness or inability of the Chief of the Fire Department, perform the duties of said Chief of the Fire Department and be charged with the responsibilities of said position.

Any person appointed to said position as Deputy Chief shall receive as compensation a salary as determined by the annual Salary Ordinance of the City of Ventnor City.[1]
