All vehicles approaching Wolfert Avenue from either direction on Hutton Street, which likewise is not a state-maintained street, shall, before entering the same, come to a full stop unless otherwise directed by a peace officer or signal.
Signs bearing the word "Stop" shall be erected and maintained at or near the intersecting line of Wolfert Avenue and Hutton Street. Said signs and letters thereon shall be of such a size and either so illuminated at night or so placed as to be illuminated by streetlights or headlights of approaching vehicles as to be plainly visible and legible for a distance of 50 feet along such intersecting Hutton Street.
Upon the adoption of this article, the Highway Department is authorized and directed to procure and place the signs referred to in § 160-38 hereof.
This article is introduced for adoption under the authority of the Village Law and § 90, Subdivision 2, of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York.[1]

Any person violating any of the provisions of this article shall be punishable for the first offense by a fine not to exceed $10 and for the second offense by a fine of not less than $10 nor more than $25 or by imprisonment for not less than two or more than 15 days. The third or any subsequent offense within one year shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
