Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-7.1, there is hereby
established within the Fire Department of the City of Pleasantville
an Arson Investigation Unit which shall be responsible for conducting
investigations of arson, suspicious fires and explosions within the
City of Pleasantville.

Before any member of the Fire Department shall
be assigned to the Arson Investigation Unit, he shall have successfully
completed a course of training approved by the Police Training Commission
and an arson investigation training course approved by the New Jersey
Department of Law and Public Safety.
Members of the Arson Investigation Unit shall
have the same powers and authority as police officers within the City
of Pleasantville while engaged in the actual performance of arson
investigation duties.
Members of the Arson Investigation Unit shall
receive no additional pay for these duties. Any member of the Fire
Department appointed to this unit shall be classified as a fire journeyman
and also perform journeyman duties as prescribed by the Fire Chief.
