For the purpose of this chapter, the following
words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to
them by this section:
ALUMINUM
All products made of aluminum, including aluminum cans, foil,
wrappers, containers for preparing dinners or other foods, screen
frames and lawn chairs.
DEBRIS
Stones, dirt, demolition material, broken concrete and other
like material, brush, branches, small trees and bushes.
GARBAGE
Putrescible animal, fish, fowl, fruit or vegetable waste
incident to and resulting from the use, preparation, cooking and consumption
of food.
GLASS
All products made from silica or sand, soda ash and limestone,
the product being transparent or translucent and being used for packaging
or bottling of various matter and all other material commonly known
as "glass," excluding, however, blue and flat glass and glass commonly
known as "window glass."
METAL
All products made of metal, exclusive of aluminum, including
washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters, tire rims,
springs, bicycles, bimetal cans (tin cans) or scrap metal.
WASTEPAPER PRODUCTS
All uncontaminated newspaper, magazines, books, paper, food
cartons, cardboard boxes, wrapping paper, bags and discarded letters
and envelopes.
There is hereby established a program for the
mandatory separation of paper products, glass, aluminum, metal, garbage,
trash and debris with the City of Pleasantville.
The occupant or owner of any building within
the City of Pleasantville who shall place for disposal, removal or
collection the following named items shall do so in strict conformity
with the following regulations:
A. Wastepaper shall be bundled separately in paper bags
or secured in bundles not to exceed 50 pounds and shall not be contained
in plastic bags.
B. Glass shall be contained in a reusable metal or plastic
occupant- or owner-supplied container, separated into one container
for glass with lids, metal rings and plastic covers removed.
C. Aluminum shall be contained in a reusable metal or
plastic occupant- or owner-supplied container.
D. Recycling will be collected by the Atlantic County
Utilities Authority every other Tuesday.
E. Yard waste shall be placed in biodegradable paper
bags or rigid reusable trash containers. Yard waste in plastic bags
shall not be permitted and shall not be collected in any part of the
weekly collection. For the purpose of this section, “biodegradable
bags” shall be paper bags which are designed and manufactured
to decompose by natural biological process.
