The Board of Education is hereby authorized to adopt rules and regulations governing the use of public school buildings and any grounds, lawns, athletic fields, play yards, walkways, driveways and parking lots related thereto, hereinafter referred to as "school facilities." No such rule or regulation shall be effective until after a public hearing is held thereon by the Board of Education, warned in the manner of public hearings as required by § C-406 of the Town Charter.
The rules and regulations shall allow for the reasonable use of school facilities by the public consonant with their primary educational function. The purpose of such rules and regulations shall be to provide for the good order, protection and security of school facilities and for protecting the safety and peace of persons legitimately using such facilities.
The rules and regulations concerning the use of school facilities shall be posted in conspicuous public places and shall be effective upon filing with the Town Clerk.
The use of school facilities except in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted and amended from time to time by the Board of Education shall be unlawful. Conduct contrary to such rules and regulations shall be unlawful.
Any person violating any rule or regulation of the Board of Education adopted pursuant to this chapter shall be punished as for a violation of this Code.[1]
