There shall be a Department of Inspections, the head of which shall be the Director.
The Department shall administer and enforce:
A. 
The prevailing construction code and all related laws, regulations and ordinances.
B. 
The City ordinances relating to minimum standards governing the condition and maintenance of dwellings and any other Housing Code[1] as to all interior and exterior conditions, including grounds and walkways, public or private.

C. 
The City Zoning Ordinance[2] and all related land use regulations and conditions as established by ordinance or by decision of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, by the Planning Board or other appropriate agency.

D. 
The Electrical Code.
E. 
The Plumbing Code.
F. 
The Fire Code.
G. 
All ordinances and codes pertaining to the repair or construction of streets and sidewalks.
H. 
All laws, ordinances and codes concerning weights and measures.
A. 
For the purpose of carrying out the foregoing, there shall be, within the Department of Inspections, such offices and bureaus and personnel as shall be deemed appropriate by the Director of the Department, subject to the approval of the Mayor and within the limits of annual appropriations, to enforce such laws, codes and regulations in each of the code and subcode specialties.
B. 
The Director of the Department of Inspections shall have the responsibility to organize and administer the Department and all of the personnel assigned to it in such a manner as to promote and maintain efficiency by coordinating the activities or personnel within the Department through an effective table of organization and to insure that the work of the Department of Inspections is properly coordinated with the work of all of the other departments, to the end that the public is provided with a modern and convenient form of service.
