[Adopted 9-7-1967 as § 3-20 of the Revised General Ordinances; amended in its entirety at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I). Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
As used in this article, the following term shall have the meaning indicated:
FIREARM
As defined in N.J.S.A. 2C:39-1f.
The discharge of any firearms, bow and arrow, crossbow, slingshot, air gun, gas gun or any other device which impels a projectile is prohibited in the City of Trenton.
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:
A. 
Any duly appointed law officer in the course of his or her official duty.
B. 
The use of firearms when necessary for the preservation of human life.
C. 
The use of firearms when hunting in conformity with the applicable laws and regulations of the State of New Jersey.
D. 
Use of a firearm on a licensed pistol, rifle or firearm range and under the supervision of the Police Department.
Violations of the provisions of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article III, General Penalty.

It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, deliver, offer, distribute or offer for sale any hunting, fishing, switchblade knife or any knife which can be concealed as a pen to a person under the age of 18 years old. The establishment by a preponderance of the evidence of all the following facts by a person making the sale shall constitute an affirmative defense to any violation therefor: that the purchaser falsely represented his/her age by producing a driver's license bearing a photograph of the licensee, a photographic identification card or a similar card purporting to be a valid identification card indicating the (s)he was 18 years of age or older, and that the appearance of the purchaser was such that an ordinary prudent person would believe him/her to be 18 years of age or older, and that the sale was made in good faith.
All licensees and employees or agents of a licensee shall require the purchaser to produce a driver's license bearing a photograph or a photographic identification card which demonstrates that the purchaser is 18 years of age or older.
Persons found to be in violation of the provisions of this article shall be subject to the general penalty as provided in Chapter 1, Article III, General Penalty.
