This article shall apply to all tar kettle operations as follows:
A. 
There shall be one twenty-pound DP or CO2 extinguisher for each kettle.
B. 
A tight-fitting lid or cover shall be on each kettle.
C. 
The cover shall be held open from the rear with a metal latch.
D. 
Gas supply bottles shall be a minimum of 10 feet from each kettle.
E. 
Tar cans shall be a minimum of 20 feet from each kettle.
F. 
An operator shall be on the ground at the kettle at all times while in use.
G. 
Kettles shall be located a minimum of 10 feet from structures and not near any window or other opening into buildings.
H. 
Kettles shall not be located under any roof overhang or canopy.
I. 
All cylinders not connected to a kettle must have safety caps in place and be hand-tight and stored 20 feet from the kettle.
J. 
No flammable or combustible materials shall be kept within 20 feet of any kettle.
K. 
No vehicles shall be within 20 feet of any kettle.
