GENERAL REFERENCES

The police force of the Township of Springfield shall consist of a Chief of Police and any number of additional men as Deputy Chief, Lieutenants, Detective-Sergeants, Sergeants and patrolmen as the Public Safety Committee may deem necessary from time to time.
All appointments to the Police Force shall be made by the Police Committee, subject to confirmation by the Board of Commissioners, and each member of the Force shall hold his position until removed by the Board of Commissioners for cause.
All salaries of members of the Police Force shall be fixed by the Police Committee, with the approval of the Board of Commissioners, and shall be payable in equal semimonthly installments.
The Police Committee is hereby authorized to adopt, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners, rules and regulations governing the conduct and operation of the Police Force. The Chief of Police shall have power to suspend any officer, subject to a hearing before the Police Committee, and such finding shall be immediately reported to the Board of Commissioners for disposition.
The Police Force shall have the power to enforce all township ordinances.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
