The Village of Pleasant Prairie, pursuant to §§ 61.195, 61.197 and 66.0101, Wis. Stats., hereby elects not to be governed by those portions of §§ 61.19 and 61.26, Wis. Stats., which are in conflict with this ordinance.
The duties of the office of Village Treasurer shall be performed by the person appointed by the Village President subject to confirmation by the Village Board commencing on May 1, 1991. The incumbent Village Treasurer shall continue to serve as Treasurer until the qualification and appointment of the Village Treasurer. If a vacancy occurs in the office of the Treasurer prior to the appointment of a Treasurer, the Village Board may make an appointment to serve the remaining term of the Treasurer.
The appointed Village Treasurer shall hold office for an indefinite term, subject to removal as provided in § 17.13, Wis. Stats.
The appointed Village Treasurer shall perform all duties required of the office of Village Treasurer as provided for by law and those other duties as the Village Board directs to be executed by the Village Treasurer from time to time.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
This charter ordinance shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication unless within the sixty-day period a referendum petition as provided by § 66.0101, Wis. Stats., shall be filed, in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until it shall have been submitted to a referendum vote of the electors and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
