[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Council of the Township of Ewing 11-24-1998 by Ord. No. 98-13 as Ch. 30 of the 1998 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A. 
Uninsured motorist coverage. The Township self-insurance program uninsured motorist coverage shall be in the amount of the statutory minimum of $15,000, exclusive of interest and costs, on account of injury to or death of one person in any one accident, and of $30,000, exclusive of interest and costs, on account of injury to or death of more than one person in any one accident, as authorized pursuant to Title 17 of the Revised Statutes; except that, in order to recover for noneconomic loss, as defined in N.J.S.A. 39:6A-2, for accidents to which the benefits of N.J.S.A. 39:6A-4 apply, the tort option elected pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:6A-8(a) shall apply to that person.
B. 
Personal injury benefits.
(1) 
Election of tort option. The Township elects the basic tort option specified under N.J.S.A. 39:6A-8(a).
(2) 
Exclusion from personal injury benefits. The Township elects to exclude from coverage for benefits under N.J.S.A. 39:6A-4 and 39:6A-10:
(a) 
Any person who suffered personal injuries or death as a result of the following conduct:

While committing a high misdemeanor or felony or seeking to avoid lawfully apprehension or arrest by a police officer.
[2] 
While acting with specific intent or causing injury or damage to himself or to others.
(b) 
Any person having incurred personal injuries or death who, at the time of the accident, was the owner or registrant of an automobile registered or principally garaged in this state that was being operated without personal injury protection coverage.
