[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Canastota 3-19-2001 by L.L. No. 1-2001. Amendments noted where applicable.]
This chapter shall be known as the "Residency Requirement Law of the Year 2001" and is adopted under the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York and § 3-300 of the Village Law of the State of New York. The amendment is meant to conform the titles of certain officers with their Civil Service titles or official titles, as the case may be.
The purpose of this chapter is to authorize the Board of Trustees to allow appointed Village officers to reside in the county wherein the Village is situated. This is in lieu of any residency requirement to the contrary.
The Clerk, Deputy Clerk, Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer shall reside in Madison County. The foregoing officers shall not be required to be residents of the Village of Canastota.
