[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee
of the Township of Franklin 9-10-1991 by Ord. No. O-14-91. Amendments
noted where applicable.]
A service charge of $20 shall be imposed for
each check or other written instrument tendered for an account owed
to the Township of Franklin which is returned for insufficient funds.
Any charge imposed as a result of this chapter
shall be collected in the same manner prescribed by law for the collection
of the account for which the check or other written instrument was
issued.
If the check or written instrument is issued
for a tax or special assessment the service charge shall be included
on whatever list of delinquent accounts is prepared for enforcement
of the lien.

Any future payments made on behalf of the party
having previously issued payment returned for insufficient funds may
be tendered in cash or by certified or cashier's check at the discretion
of the municipal official.
