As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
EMERGENCY
Fire, flood or other catastrophe by which residential dwellings in the borough are rendered temporarily uninhabitable.
EMERGENCY HOUSING
Mobile homes or house trailers which contain adequate plumbing, heating and electrical facilities as determined by the Construction Code Official.
In the event of an emergency, the Construction Code Official may issue a permit permitting the use and occupancy of emergency housing for a period not to exceed 90 days from the date of such permit, subject to such conditions as the Construction Code Official deems necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the occupants thereof and the surrounding premises.
No person shall use or occupy emergency housing within the borough unless such person has a valid permit therefor.
In the event that repairs to or reconstruction of the damaged premises will not be completed prior to the expiration of the aforesaid permit, the Council may, by resolution, authorize the Construction Code Official to grant extensions for said permit for such time and upon such conditions as it deems appropriate.
Should the permittee fail or refuse to abide by any of the conditions imposed by the Construction Code Official or the Mayor and Council, the Construction Code Official may revoke said permit after affording the permittee a reasonable opportunity to correct said violation.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding $500 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days, or both. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
