There is hereby established the Department of
Public Works, the head of which shall be the Director of Public Works,
who shall be appointed by the Township Committee.

There are hereby established within the Department
of Public Works the following Divisions, under the supervision of
the Director of Public Works:
A.
Establishment; Road Superintendent. There is hereby
established the Division of Roads within the Department of Public
Works, the head of which Division shall be the Road Superintendent,
who shall be appointed by the Township Committee.
B.
Functions. Under the supervision of the Road Superintendent,
the Division of Roads shall:
(1)
Maintain and repair all streets, roads, bridges, culverts
and drains in the Township.
(2)
Construct and reconstruct streets, roads, bridges,
culverts and drains, treat road surfaces and resurface streets and
roads according to the standards and schedules made or approved by
the Township Engineer.
(3)
Maintain all Township streets and roads in a clean
and safe condition, free from obstructions and hazards, and remove
snow and ice from such streets and roads as may be required.
(4)
Study problems of street traffic congestion and street-lighting
and recommend to the Township Committee, Chief of Police and Township
Engineer appropriate plans for street improvements and use to satisfy
traffic requirements.
(5)
Install, repair and maintain street traffic signs,
lines and markers in cooperation with the Police Department, except
as otherwise directed by the Township Committee or provided by state
statute.

A.
Establishment; Buildings, Lands and Parks Superintendent.
There is hereby established the Division of Public Buildings, Lands
and Parks within the Department of Public Works, the head of which
Division shall be the Buildings, Lands and Parks Superintendent, who
shall be appointed by the Township Committee.
B.
Functions. Under the supervision of the Buildings,
Lands and Parks Superintendent, the Division of Public Buildings,
Lands and Parks shall maintain, repair, care for and, when feasible,
modify and construct all Township buildings, facilities, lands and
parks.
There is hereby established the Division of
Water, which shall undertake the functions and powers as set forth
in Chapter 220, Water, of the Code of the Township of Manalapan, New
Jersey, under the supervision of the Water Superintendent, who shall
be appointed by the Township Committee. [1]
