For the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the installation,
renewal, extension and reception of electrical wiring and electrical apparatus
in existing buildings, structures, outdoor electrical displays and signs and
in the construction, reconstruction, alteration or repair of buildings, structures
and outdoor electrical displays and signs, there is hereby adopted by reference
that certain code known as the "National Electrical Code" as recommended by
the National Fire Protection Association, being particularly the current edition
thereof and the whole thereof, hereinafter referred to as the "1975 National
Electrical Code," a current copy of which and the whole thereof is to be found
at the office of the Clerk of Snow Hill in the Municipal Building of said
town and at the Library of the Circuit Court for Worcester County, Maryland,
on the second floor of the County Court House at said Town of Snow Hill, which
said copy of said National Electrical Code as the same exists at the date
of this chapter shall be controlling for all existing and future electrical
wiring and apparatus in buildings, structures and outdoor electrical displays
or signs within said Town of Snow Hill unless this chapter is amended or repealed,
in the same manner and to the same effect as if said current National Electrical
Code of 1975 were fully set forth herein; provided, however, that if any provision
of said National Electrical Code of 1975 is inconsistent with the terms of
this chapter, the terms hereof shall govern.
From and after the effective date of this chapter, so much of said Ordinance
No. 30-A of May 25, 1976, of the County Commissioners of Worcester County
as controls the construction, reconstruction, alteration or repair of electrical
installations in said Worcester County and the licensing of various classifications
of electricians and the establishment of a Board of Electrical Examiners and
provides for an Electrical Inspector for said Worcester County and the exceptions
therefrom be and the same is hereby adopted by the Town of Snow Hill for the
same intent and to the same effect as if fully incorporated in this chapter,
and the persons who are and shall hereinafter be authorized to act as the
Board of Electrical Examiners and Electrical Inspectors and licensed electricians
of various classifications within said Worcester County shall be and are hereby
authorized to act in such capacities respectively within the corporate limits
of Snow Hill.
