A Municipal Court for the City of Hackensack is hereby established pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 2:8A-1 et seq.,[1] as amended and supplemented.

The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court of the City of Hackensack."
The Municipal Court shall have a seal which shall bear the impress of the name of the Court.
There shall be a Judge of said Municipal Court, who shall be appointed by the City Council and who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.
The Judge of the Municipal Court shall receive an annual salary to be fixed by the City Council in the manner provided by law and to be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other municipal officers are paid.[1]

Said Municipal Court and the Judge thereof shall have, possess and exercise all of the functions, powers, duties and jurisdiction conferred by the provisions of N.J.S.A. 2:8A-1 et seq.,[1] as amended and supplemented, or by any other law.

There shall be a Clerk of the Municipal Court, who shall be appointed by the City Council and who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified. The Clerk of the Municipal Court shall receive an annual salary to be fixed by the City Council in the manner provided by law and to be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other municipal officers are paid.[1] He shall perform such functions and duties as shall be prescribed for him by law, by rules applicable to municipal courts and by the Judge of the Municipal Court.

The Municipal Court shall be held at the City Hall or at such other public place or building in the City of Hackensack as may be designated by resolution of the City Council from time to time, as necessity and reason may require. The Judge of the Municipal Court shall hold court at least once each week and he shall sit and hear cases until the calendar is completed, and at such other times as the business of the Court may require, subject to the rules applicable to municipal courts.
