A. 
Whenever any words and phrases are used in this chapter, the meanings respectively ascribed to them in Subtitle 1 of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases as used herein.
B. 
The foregoing notwithstanding, the term "holiday" as used in this chapter, shall be deemed to include:

New Year's Day.
(2) 
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday (legal celebration).
(3) 
Lincoln's Birthday (legal celebration).
(4) 
Presidents' Day.
(5) 
Good Friday.
(6) 
Passover (first two and last two days).
(7) 
Memorial Day (legal celebration).
(8) 
Independence Day.
(9) 
Labor Day.
(10) 
Rosh Hashanah.
(11) 
Yom Kippur.
(12) 
Columbus Day (legal celebration).
(13) 
Election Day (November).
(14) 
Veterans Day.
(15) 
Thanksgiving Day.
(16) 
Christmas Day.
All former traffic ordinances of the City of Hackensack are hereby repealed, except that this repeal shall not affect or prevent the prosecution or punishment of any person for any act done or committed in violation of any ordinance hereby repealed prior to the taking effect of this chapter. This repeal shall also not affect any regulations previously adopted, by ordinance or otherwise, and approved by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, providing for the temporary closing of school streets in accordance, generally, with the provisions of § 170-15 of this chapter.
If any part or parts of this chapter are held to be invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this chapter.

A. 
Unless another penalty is expressly provided by New Jersey statute, or except as specifically provided in some other section of this chapter, every person convicted of a violation of a provision of this chapter or any supplement thereto shall be liable to a penalty of not more than $250 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or both.
B. 
In areas with limited time parking, a violation shall be deemed to exist immediately upon the expiration of the maximum parking time permitted in that area. In addition, a separate violation shall be deemed to exist for each additional period of time, equal to the maximum parking time permitted in that area, in which the vehicle remains illegally parked.
