There is hereby established a Special Events Committee for the
Borough of Haledon to be known as the "Special Events Committee of
the Borough of Haledon."
The purpose of the Special Events Committee is to organize the
local patriotic celebrations, including, but not limited to, parades
and fireworks. The Committee sponsors various events in order to bring
together local citizens, businesses and civic groups with the goal
of fostering a social and community-building atmosphere.
A.
The Special Events Committee shall consist of five members, who shall
be residents of the Borough of Haledon. The members of the Special
Events Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and
consent of the Council for terms of three years, to serve without
salary. No more than three members of the governing body may serve
on the Special Events Committee at any one time.

Effective
in 2014, two members of the Special Events Committee shall be appointed
to three-year terms, two members shall be appointed to two-year terms
and one member shall be appointed to a one-year term. Upon the expiration
of these terms, all appointments shall be for three-year terms.
B.
Any vacancy occurring for any reason shall be filled for the unexpired
term by appointment of the Mayor with advice and consent of the Council.
A member shall be deemed to have vacated his or her appointment if
he or she is absent from four consecutive meetings of the Committee.
C.
The Special Events Committee shall organize annually and from its
members elect a Chair.
The duties of the Special Events Committee shall be as follows:
The Special Events Committee shall meet at least once per month
and keep complete and accurate records of its meetings and activities
and shall make an annual report to the Mayor and Council.
