GENERAL REFERENCES
Dogs and other animals — See Ch. 97.
The following words, when used in this chapter,
shall have the meanings herein given to them:
The Board of Health of the Borough of Haledon.
The Borough of Haledon.
Includes swine, hogs, pigs, cattle, horses, goats, rabbits,
guinea pigs, mink, white mice, chinchilla and hamsters as well as
all other animals.
All manner of domestic and wild birds, and includes fowl,
chickens, turkeys, hens, geese, pigeons, guinea hens and all other
domesticated birds.
Includes dogs, cats, rabbits, canaries, parrots and other
animals and birds usually kept as pets.

Shall be defined to include but not be limited to corporations,
companies, associations, societies, including nonprofit organizations,
firms, partnerships, joint stock companies, individuals and government
entities.

A.Â
No person shall keep, raise, breed or house, or allow
to be kept, raised, bred or housed, any live poultry or live animals
in any dwelling place or part thereof, nor shall any other poultry
or live animal be allowed to run at large in the Borough of Haledon.
B.Â
The keeping of dog kennels is hereby prohibited within
the Borough of Haledon.
C.Â
The keeping of riding or bridling stables where horses
or ponies are kept for hire or boarded is hereby prohibited within
the Borough of Haledon.

The raising, breeding, keeping, housing or slaughtering
of any live poultry or live animals as defined herein is hereby prohibited
within the confines of the Borough of Haledon except as follows:

Chickens.
(1)Â
No person shall keep, raise, breed or house any chickens
or roosters within the confines of the Borough of Haledon.
B.Â
Pigeons.
(1)Â
No person shall keep, raise, breed or house any pigeons
within the confines of the Borough of Haledon.
This chapter is not intended to and shall not
prohibit the keeping of ordinary household pets in dwellings or other
places when kept as such.

This chapter shall not be construed as repealing
or modifying any other ordinance, law or regulation except to the
extent that the requirements herein set forth are greater than those
of such other ordinance, law or regulation.
