[Adopted 12-8-1948 (Ch. 10, Art. I, of the 1977 Code); amended 12-27-1977 by Ord. No. 77-21; 4-11-1995 by Ord. No. 95-17]
There is hereby established in the Township of Hillsborough, County of Somerset and State of New Jersey, in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of New Jersey, P.L. 1993, Chapter 293,[1] a Municipal Court, the name of which shall be the "Municipal Court of Hillsborough Township."

The Judge, shall as a condition of eligibility for appointment and for continuation in office, be a resident of this state and an attorney-at-law admitted to practice in this state for at least five years.
The jurisdiction of the Municipal Court shall be as delineated in N.J.S.A. 2B:12-1 et seq. in general and N.J.S.A. 2B:12-17, 2B:12-18 and 2B:12-19 in particular.
The Judge of the Municipal Court shall be appointed by the Township Committee. The term of office of the Judge of the Municipal Court shall be three years.
The Judge of the Municipal Court shall receive such compensation as is limited by the Salary Ordinance[1] and set by resolution, as both may be amended from time to time.

The necessary supplies for such Court shall be furnished to the Municipal Court upon requisition by the Municipal Court Administrator; and the Township Municipal Complex is hereby designated as the necessary accommodations.
