The position and office of Chief of Financial Officer is hereby created and established in and for the Township of Hillsborough pursuant to Section 5 of P.L. 1988, c. 110.[1]

The Chief Financial Officer shall be a person who is a certified municipal finance officer appointed by the Township of Hillsborough or otherwise authorized to occupy the position under the provisions of Chapter 110 of the Laws of New Jersey 1988, and the amendments and supplements thereto.[1]

The Chief Financial Officer shall serve at the pleasure of the Township Committee or such other specified term as may be set by the Township Committee at the time of appointment.
The Chief Financial Officer shall receive such compensation as is limited by the Salary Ordinance and set by resolution, as both may be amended from time to time.[1]

The Chief Financial Officer shall carry out all the responsibilities set forth pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 151 of the Laws of New Jersey, 1947 (N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26 et seq.), and the amendments and supplements thereto.
Vacancies, other than due to expiration of term, shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
