There is hereby created the position of Deputy Municipal Clerk for the Township of Little Egg Harbor pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-135.
A. 
Under the direction of the Municipal Clerk, on a regular and recurring basis, the Deputy Municipal Clerk shall plan, organize, manage and coordinate the various activities of the office in accordance with state and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies. The Deputy Municipal Clerk shall also perform other related work as required.
B. 
During the absence or disability of the Municipal Clerk, the Deputy Municipal Clerk shall have all the powers of the Municipal Clerk and shall perform the functions and duties of such office.
C. 
To be appointed to the position of Deputy Municipal Clerk, an individual must possess a municipal clerk certificate as provided for by N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133.2.
The Deputy Municipal Clerk shall be appointed by the Township Committee and shall serve for a term of one year, commencing on January 1 of the year of appointment and ending on December 31 of the same year, or until a successor shall be appointed and qualified. A vacancy in the office of Assistant Municipal Clerk, other than due to expiration of term, shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
