There is hereby created the position of Deputy Tax Collector for the Township of Little Egg Harbor pursuant to N.J.S.A. 54:5-4.
A. 
Under the direction of the Tax Collector, on a regular and recurring basis, the Deputy Tax Collector shall plan, organize, manage and coordinate the various activities of the office in accordance with state and local laws, rules, regulations and policies. The Deputy Tax Collector shall also perform other related work as required.
B. 
During the absence or disability of the Tax Collector, the Deputy Tax Collector shall have all the powers of the Tax Collector and shall perform the functions and duties of such office.
C. 
To be appointed to the position of Deputy Tax Collector, an individual must possess a tax collector certificate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-145.7.
The Deputy Tax Collector shall be appointed by the Township Committee and shall serve for a term of one year, commencing on January 1 of the year of appointment and ending on December 31 of the same year, or until a successor shall be appointed and qualified. A vacancy in the office of Deputy Tax Collector, other than due to expiration of term, shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
