There is hereby created the position of Construction
Official of the Township of Little Egg Harbor.
A.
Under the direction of the Township Administrator,
the Construction Official shall have the chief administrative responsibility
for administering and enforcing provisions of the New Jersey Uniform
Construction Code. The Construction Official shall have the power
to overrule a determination of a subcode official based on an interpretation
of a substantive provision of the subcode which such subcode official
administers only if the Construction Official is qualified to act,
pursuant to the State Uniform Construction Code Act, as a subcode
official for such subcode. The Construction Official may also serve
as a subcode official for any subcode which he is qualified to administer
under the State Uniform Construction Code Act. The Construction Official
shall also perform other related work as required.
B.
To be appointed to the position of Construction Official,
an individual shall possess the following (a subcode official or Municipal
Engineer may serve as a Construction Official if otherwise qualified
under the provisions of the State Uniform Construction Code Act):
(1)
A valid construction official's license issued by
the Department of Community Affairs.
(2)
A driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the
operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary
to perform the essential duties of the position.
(3)
Where the Construction Official also serves as one
or more subcode officials, the Construction Official shall be required
to possess the appropriate subcode license or licenses.
The term "Construction Official" shall be substituted
for the term "Building Inspector" wherever the latter shall appear
in any ordinance or in the Code of the Township of Little Egg Harbor.
The Construction Official shall be appointed
by the Township Committee and shall serve for a term of four years,
commencing on January 1 of the year of appointment and ending on December
31 of the fourth year, or until a successor shall be appointed and
qualified.
