There is hereby created the position of Public
Safety Telecommunicator Trainee for the Township of Little Egg Harbor.
A.Â
Under close supervision as a trainee and productive
worker, the Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee shall receive and
respond to telephone or other electronic requests for emergency assistance,
including law enforcement, fire, medical or other emergency services
and/or dispatches appropriate units to response sites. The Public
Safety Telecommunicator Trainee shall also perform other related work
as required.
B.Â
To be appointed to the position of Public Safety Telecommunicator
Trainee, an individual shall possess the following:
(1)Â
Appointees to positions at public safety answering
points and at some public safety dispatch points must attain training
and certification by the Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services
(OETS) in the Department of Law and Public Safety as required by N.J.A.C.
17:24-1.1 to 11.4.
(2)Â
A driver's license valid in the State of New Jersey,
only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility,
is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Appointees who successfully complete the twelve-month
training period will be eligible for promotion under the Department
of Personnel procedure to the title of Public Safety Telecommunicator.
The inability of an employee in this title to attain a level of performance
warranting advancement and, where applicable, certifications by the
Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services (OETS) will be cause
for separation.
