There is hereby created in the Pennington Borough
Department of Public Works the part-time position of Administrative
Assistant.
A.
The Department of Public Works Administrative Assistant
shall provide assistance on a wide range of administrative activities.
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Public Works, the Assistant
shall plan and administer ongoing public works tasks utilizing administrative
skills, support public works staff to maintain work flow, quality,
deadlines, productivity and cost effectiveness.
B.
Characteristic responsibilities shall be as follows:
(1)
Plan, administer and coordinate the implementation
of administrative processes under the direction of the Superintendent
of Public Works.
(2)
Streamline administrative functions by recommending
and providing input for new or modified office system designs or processing
methods.
(3)
Prepare and assist in finalizing, coordination and
distribution of public works memoranda, reports, letters, portions
of publications, proposals or contracts, etc.
(4)
Monitor expenses against approved budgets and prepare
cost analyses, justifications and purchase requests; assist management
in development and analysis of long-range goals and objectives.
(5)
Process vouchers, invoices and paperwork relevant
to project administration.
(6)
Draft reports and update sections of publications
or proposals for supervisory review.
(7)
Collect, analyze and summarize public-works-related
data and information, evaluate alternatives and make recommendations
to supervisor.
(9)
Communicate with professionals, vendors and suppliers
under the direction of the supervisor.

Supervision received. Supervision is received from
the Superintendent of Public Works.

Relevant education and experience shall be as follows:

Knowledge, skills and abilities shall be as follows:
(1)
Ability to analyze and suggest alternatives in order
to make recommendations to supervisor.
(2)
Skill and ability to operate office equipment, including
computer, fax, copier, calculator, etc.
(3)
Ability to draft, edit and finalize correspondence,
reports, procedures, vouchers, etc.
(4)
Skill and ability to plan and initiate actions, establish
and meet deadlines and work independently to complete projects.
(5)
Skill and ability to communicate via telephone and
mobile communication equipment.
(6)
Ability to read and understand blueprints.
(7)
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heavy-duty
equipment.
A.
Compensation for the position of Administrative Assistant
shall be within the hourly range of pay for part-time employees for
the Borough of Pennington.
B.
Wages shall be paid to such employee in the same manner
as other employees of the Borough of Pennington are paid.
C.
Benefits will be available according to the personnel
policies of the Borough of Pennington.
