A. 
Pursuant to the authority conferred under and by virtue of § 36, Subdivision 1, of the Town Law of the State of New York, the Town Board hereby determines that the office of Tax Collector of the Town of Ghent be and the same hereby is abolished, effective December 31, 1977, that being the expiration of the term of the present incumbent.
B. 
No Tax Collector of the Town of Ghent shall be elected at any subsequent Town election.
C. 
Upon the expiration of the term of the present incumbent Tax Collector, said Tax Collector shall surrender and deliver to the Town Clerk of the Town all assessment rolls, books, papers, writings and all other documents and property in his possession as such officer.
Following the expiration of the term of the present incumbent, it shall be the duty of the Town Clerk of the Town of Ghent to collect and receive all state, County and Town taxes and assessments that may be levied in said Town, and said Town Clerk shall thenceforth have all the powers and be subject to all the duties of a Collector with regard to the collection of such taxes.
