GENERAL REFERENCES

The Williamstown Board of Selectmen will accept and consider applications for all licenses and permits covered by these guidelines at their regularly scheduled meetings. All applications and payment of fees must be in the hands of the Town Clerk no later than 12:00 noon on the Friday preceding the meeting.

A. 
The fee, payable to the Town of Williamstown, will be as listed in Subsection C below. Except in those cases where it is clearly shown or implied that the license or permit is for a specific event or for a limited period of time, the fees listed are considered to be annual fees.
B. 
In cases where licenses of permits are annual ones, and the applicant requests the license or permit for less than a year, the fee will be computed as follows:
(1) 
In cases where the fee is established by state statute (e.g. pinball, taxi, local auctioneer), there will be no prorating except as provided in the law.
(2) 
If the license or permit is requested for a period of more than three months but less than six months, the fee will be 1/2 of the annual fee.
(3) 
If the license or permit is requested for a period of less than three months, the fee will be 1/4 of the annual fee.
(4) 
If the license or permit is requested for a period of six months or more, the fee will be the full annual fee.
(5) 
In no case will a prorated fee be less than $5.

The following is a list of licenses and permits currently being issued by the Williamstown Board of Selectmen. The fees for these licenses and permits are set periodically by the Board of Selectmen.

Licenses and permits not listed in the foregoing may be added as necessary, and fees will be established at the time of issuance.
All license or permit applications must be signed by an active officer of the organization.
For all newly-issued applications, the applicant must be represented at the Board meeting before the application will be considered. In renewal or continuing applications, the applicant need appear at the Board meeting only if requested to do so.
Licenses or permits to be exercised on property other than that of the applicant must have written permission of the property owner accompanying the application. In the cases of the academic institutions in the community, permission should come from the appropriate area of the administration.
All license and permit applications must first be approved by the Williamstown Inspector of Buildings, who shall certify that the proposed activity is in conformity with Chapter 70, Zoning, and by the Williamstown Chief of Police, who shall make a recommendation to the Selectmen on any restrictions or qualifications with regard to the granting of said licenses.
In granting any application, it should be understood that the Selectmen are not waiving any applicable town or state regulations governing the activity, nor do they assume any responsibility for the applicant's conforming to them. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ascertain the applicable regulations and to conform to them.
One-day wine and malt licenses are not included in these guidelines, but are subject to the guidelines for them included in Chapter 78, Alcoholic Beverages, Article I.
The Board of Selectmen may waive any provision of these guidelines or adjust any fees if special conditions warrant.
If any of the foregoing provisions or fees conflict with applicable town, state or federal laws, the laws shall take precedence and shall be followed.
The Board of Selectmen requires that each applicant conform to the foregoing and may require confirmation that such compliance has been met by the applicant.
