GENERAL REFERENCES
Open containers of alcoholic beverages — See Ch. 7, Art. I.
Dogs at large — See Ch. 10, Art. II.
A. 
Destroy, misuse or abuse park property, or to injure trees, lawns, shrubs or plants in any park, playground, beach or other area under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners. No tree cutting shall be permitted except when authorized by the Park Commissioners.
B. 
Deface, remove or destroy any sign or notice or protective device placed in any park, playground or beach under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners.
C. 
Annoy other persons or to disturb the animals, birds or fish, or commit any act of nuisance in any park, playground or beach area under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners.
D. 
Throw or deposit or leave any litter or rubbish in any park, playground or beach areas under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, except in containers placed for such purposes.
E. 
Throw balls or play active games in any park under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, except on areas set aside for such games.
F. 
Play golf or practice same with putter or other club or stick of any kind upon or within any public park, playground or beach under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, except in those areas purposely set aside for this activity or in conjunction with an organized town recreation program.
G. 
Take any animal into any park, playground or beach under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, except on a proper leash. There shall be no animals taken to areas where specifically prohibited.
H. 
Sell or offer for sale any goods or wares; to do any advertising of any nature without a permit from the park Commissioners; to play any game of chance for money or other item of value.
I. 
Operate any authorized motorized vehicle or boat in any park, playground or beach under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, except on regular vehicle roads, ways or ponds authorized by the Park Commissioners.
J. 
Discharge or have any firearms, bows and arrows or fireworks in any park, playground or beach under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, except at those areas specifically authorized by the Park Commissioners in keeping with the permit issued for same.
K. 
Commit any trespass in any public parks, playgrounds or beaches under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners. A trespass shall be any unauthorized entry in, upon or across such property.
L. 
Give instructions to any person in driving an automobile in any park or to learn to drive an automobile in any park, or to operate any vehicle at a rate of speed exceeding 10 miles per hour in any park.
M. 
Erect a booth, tent, stall or other structure or to use a sleeping bag or to camp or lodge in any park, playground or beach without the written permission of the Park Commissioners. No permanent wharves, piers or jetties are to be constructed.
N. 
No person shall drink any alcoholic beverages as defined in MGL C. 138, § 1, while on, in or upon any building or property under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners, without their consent.
O. 
Make any fire in any park, playground or beach under the jurisdiction of the Park Commissioners without permission of the Park Commissioners.
Except as otherwise specifically authorized by the Park Commissioners, all parks, playgrounds and beaches under their jurisdiction are closed from one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise.
The Park Commissioners reserve the right to waive and/or limit these rules at any time if in the best interest of the Town of Williamstown.
Where any violation herein is also a violation of a state law or town bylaw, the penalty for such violation shall be as provided in such state law or town bylaw. Other violations herein shall be punishable as provided in MGL, C. 45, § 24, by a fine not exceeding $200.
