§ 54-1 Department established; responsibilities.

The town hereby establishes a Department of Public Works pursuant to Town Law § 64, Subdivision 21-a. The Department is responsible for the operation of the sewer and water districts in the town, the transfer station and the town highways. The Department shall assist the Building and Planning Departments in the best interests of the town.

§ 54-2 Commissioner of Public Works.

The Department shall be headed by a Commissioner of Public Works who shall be appointed by the Town Board and who need not be a resident of the Town of Schodack. All employees in the Department shall be supervised by the Commissioner.

§ 54-3 Highway Department.

The Highway Department shall be a division of the Department of Public Works.

§ 54-4 Deputy Commissioners of Public Works.

There shall be two Deputy Commissioners of Public Works who shall be appointed by the Town Board.
