It is the applicant's responsibility to perform all work in a safe manner and in compliance with all applicable town, state and federal laws and regulations.
A. 
Traffic shall be maintained in a safe manner by appropriate measures, including signage and flagmen as required. The town may require a traffic maintenance plan.
B. 
All lanes of traffic shall be maintained unless otherwise approved by the Town Engineer.
A. 
Necessary measures shall be taken to protect all property line monuments and utilities in and adjacent to the work area. The applicant shall be solely responsible for all damage claims and make the necessary repairs or restitution. Service interruptions to utilities shall not be allowed except as approved by Town Engineer to make connections.
B. 
The Underground Facilities Protection Office (UFPO) shall be contacted 48 hours in advance of any work to locate any subsurface utilities or structures.
A. 
Necessary measures shall be taken to mitigate any adverse impacts from construction activities, such as noise, dust, soil erosion, etc.
B. 
The work area shall be left in a safe erosion-resistant condition, free from dust, mud and debris, at the end of each workday in areas where the public or adjacent property owners may be impacted.
The work area shall be returned to its original condition or better, including cleanup and disposal of debris, pavement restoration and revegetation of disturbed areas.
Soil and erosion control measures shall be planned and implemented consistent with the Soil and Water Conservation Society's New York State Guidelines for Erosion and Sediment Control and as directed by the Town Engineer.

Permits and licenses shall be submitted prior to any blasting.
B. 
A preblast survey of all structures likely to be affected shall be conducted.
C. 
All work is to be done in a safe manner and in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. A preblast/rock excavation meeting shall be held with the Town Engineer and interested parties.
D. 
Seismic monitoring shall be provided with all operations.
E. 
The maximum allowable particle velocity measured at any adjacent structure shall not exceed five feet per second. Mats and time delay explosives may be required.
F. 
Notification of blasting activity and a timetable to neighboring dwelling units/offices/stores within five-tenths mile of the blast area will be required.
A. 
Existing pavement and walks shall be saw-cut prior to excavation.
B. 
There shall not be excavation in advance of work by more than 200 feet.
C. 
Sheeting and bracing shall be provided as required by Code 23 OSHA and for safe conditions. Excavations shall provide sufficient room to perform work as required.
D. 
Dewatering shall be done as required to allow work to be performed under dry conditions.
E. 
Any unusual conditions encountered shall be reported to the Town Engineer and the engineer of record.
F. 
Trench bottoms shall be excavated to required the line and grade for pipe and pipe bedding, where required.
G. 
Safety cones, horses, etc., shall be provided as necessary to protect public safety in the event that the trench will be left open.
H. 
Bedding. First-class bedding shall be washed sand, pea or crushed stone with a maximum particle size of three-fourths inch.
I. 
Pipelaying. Pipe shall be kept clean and free of debris. Pipelaying shall be started at the low end with spigot ends pointing in the direction of flow. Pipe shall be laid to line and grade. Joints shall be assembled as specified elsewhere. The pipe and conduit shall be supported during bedding and compaction operations.
J. 
Backfill and compaction. Immediately backfill with bedding to the pipe center line. Backfill to 12 inches over the top of the pipe with NYSDOT Type 4 select granular material. Compact evenly on both sides of the pipe by hand and/or mechanical compaction equipment in six-inch lifts until eight inches over the pipe. Backfill shall be placed in maximum eight-inch lifts, and backfill shall be on-site or imported materials approved by the Town Engineer. Mechanically compact to achieve 100% standard proctor density.
K. 
No more than 200 feet of trench shall be kept open at any time, and all trenches shall be backfilled at the end of each working day.
L. 
Warning tape shall be placed 12 inches above the pipe. Metallic warning tape shall be used over nonmetallic pipe.
M. 
Tunnels, jacking and boring. A plan shall be submitted for approval, and work shall be performed according to the approved plan.
Structural concrete shall conform to applicable sections of NYSDOT 555.
