The intent and purpose of the Institutional District is to identify and provide standards for development of land used or to be used for colleges and universities. Historically, these uses have been located in residential or agricultural districts, where the existing use, dimensional and other standards do not apply to the distinct needs of these uses. Expansions of, and other changes to, these institutional facilities have required variances from existing requirements. The Comprehensive Plan recommended that the Township establish an Institutional District for such facilities that creates standards corresponding to the specific needs of institutional uses.
A. 
Principal uses permitted by right in the Institutional District are listed in the Table of Uses located in Article II, Table 1. Because colleges and universities contain multiple uses within a single development on one or more lots, more than one principal use may be contained on a lot in this district, and all such principal uses shall meet the bulk and area standards set forth in Table 3.

Special exceptions allowed within the Institutional District are listed in the Table of Uses located in Article II, Table 1, and shall meet the criteria set forth for such uses established in Article XXVI.

Accessory uses permitted by right or as a special exception in the Institutional District are listed in the Table of Accessory Uses located in Article II, Table 2. Requirements applicable to accessory uses in the district are located in Article II, § 87-17.
The bulk and area standards for the Institutional District are set forth in Article II, Tables 3 and 4.

Parking requirements are set forth in Article XXI.

Signage requirements are set forth in Article XXII.

Timber harvesting and logging shall be conducted in accordance with Article XXIV.
