The Commissioners of Upper Gwynedd Township
shall appoint a sufficient number of men and women who are residents
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to act as policemen and women
and to serve at the will of such Commissioners. Of the men and women
so appointed, one shall be appointed Chief of Police of Upper Gwynedd
Township, and the remaining number shall be appointed to serve as
policemen and women under the supervision of the Chief.[2]

service of policemen and the Chief of Police and set forth the annual
salary for said policemen and Chief of Police, were deleted 4-22-1985

The compensation so paid to said Police Chief
and policemen of the Township shall be paid from the general Township
fund.
Each policeman, when on duty, shall wear a shield
or a badge with the words "Upper Gwynedd Township Police" inscribed
thereon, and the policemen shall be provided with uniforms, necessary
equipment and means of transportation while on duty. The cost of said
uniforms and equipment and the means of transportation, and the maintenance
of the same, shall be paid out of the general Township fund.
The police force of Upper Gwynedd Township shall
be provided with an appropriate building or part of a building to
be used as an office, and the cost of the purchase thereof or the
rental thereof, as the case may be, shall be paid out of the general
Township fund.

A police pension fund and a Civil Service Commission
as provided by statute shall be established.
