A.
BUILDING
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall
have the meanings indicated:
Includes all principal buildings, such as, but not limited
to, single- and multiple-family dwellings, places of business, public
service facilities, churches and other institutions, but shall not
include accessory buildings on the same lot as and occupied by the
same person as a principal building on such lot.
B.
The word "shall" is construed as mandatory.

From and after the effective date of this chapter,
the Township shall assign street or road numbers to all buildings
in the Township and shall give notice to the registered owner and
to the occupant of each building of the number so assigned, provided
that nothing herein contained shall be construed to relieve such owner
and occupant of the duty to ascertain such assigned street number.[1]

A.
Every owner and occupant of every building within
the Township shall cause this number so assigned to be posted conspicuously
on the street side of the building or on the entrance gate post or
beside the driveway in such a manner that it can be read during the
daylight hours from the road or street by persons of normal vision.
Nothing in this chapter shall require a school, church or public building
to display the assigned number if in lieu thereof a sign is so placed
identifying the building, which can be read during daylight hours
from the road or street by persons of normal vision.
B.
In all cases of new construction, the Township shall
assign a number at the time the building permit is issued, and such
number shall be displayed no later than the time the building is ready
for use and occupancy.

A.
Any person or persons, firm or corporation who shall
violate any of the provisions of this chapter, upon conviction thereof,
shall be liable to pay a fine or penalty not to exceed $1,000 plus
costs of prosecution for each and every offense. All fines and penalties
imposed by this chapter are recoverable by summary proceedings before
the Magisterial District Judge, and all suits or actions at law instituted
for the recovery thereof are to be in the name and for the use of
Upper Gwynedd Township, against which the offenses are committed.
In default of payment of any fine or penalty imposed by any Magisterial
District Judge under the provisions of this chapter, the person or
persons so offending may be committed to the Montgomery County Prison
for a period not exceeding 30 days.

B.
Each day a violation is committed shall constitute
a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder.
C.
This section shall not preclude the Township from
any other remedy it may have at law or equity.
