The Town Board of the Town of Greece, through the power granted to it under the appropriate provisions of the Town Law, has created a Planning Board and has appointed members to said Board. The Planning Board will consist of seven members. The Planning Board has been given certain powers such as site plan review, adding or changing the Official Map of the Town, approval of plats, granting of special permits in specific instances and changes in the zoning conditions as part of plat approval. In order to provide the people of the Town of Greece a more frequent opportunity to serve on such an important Board in the Town of Greece, which Board affects the lives and property of many residents, the Town Board has determined to exercise the authority given to it under the Laws of the State of New York to amend the Town Law to reduce the duration of the terms during which a Planning Board member holds office.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
MEMBER OF THE PLANNING BOARD
A person appointed to the Planning Board of the Town of Greece by the Town Board of the Town of Greece, pursuant to the authority granted the Town Board under § 271 of the Town Law.
[Amended 3-17-1992 by L.L. No. 1-1992]
TERM OF OFFICE
The period of time a member of the Planning Board, appointed by the Town Board, shall hold office.

If a vacancy shall occur other than by expiration of term, it shall be filled by the Town Board by appointment for the unexpired term. As authorized by New York State Town Law and the Municipal Home Rule Law, the Town Board may appoint alternate Planning Board members for the purposes of substituting for a Planning Board member in the event such member is unable to participate for any reason.
[Amended 3-17-1992 by L.L. No. 1-1992]
