[Adopted 1-27-1981 by L.L. No. 2-1981 as Ch. 25, Art. I, of the 1981 Code]
The Town Board of the Town of North Greenbush recognizing that effective January 1, 1972, the Town shall become a Town of the First Class, it is the intention of the Town Board to prepare for the transition to First Class status in an orderly manner. It is the purpose of this article to establish the office of Town Comptroller at this time in lieu of establishing all new offices simultaneously on January 1, 1972. In this manner, Town government will be better able to serve the public interest during the transitional period.
There is hereby established in the Town of North Greenbush the office of Town Comptroller. Said Town Comptroller is hereby granted and imposed with all the powers and duties of a Town Comptroller under § 34, Subdivision (1), of the Town Law of the State of New York.
The term of office of the Town Comptroller shall be from the date of appointment to December 31, 1971. On January 1, 1972, or thereafter the Town Board may establish the office by resolution in accordance with Town law.
The Town Board shall fix the salary for the term of the Town Comptroller upon the effective date of this article.
[Added 3-25-2004 by L.L. No. 3-2004[1]]
