This chapter shall be enforced by the Building Director or his designee, who shall be appointed by the Town Board of North Greenbush.
No building shall hereafter be erected or structurally altered within the area covered by the Zoning Map[1] until a permit authorizing the same shall have been issued by the Building Director or his designee.

The Building Director or his designee shall require that the application for a building permit be accompanied by a plot plan, building plans and specifications which shall contain all the information necessary to enable him to ascertain whether the proposed building complies with the provisions of this chapter.
No building permit shall be issued until the Building Director or his designee has certified that the proposed building or alteration complies with the provisions of this chapter.
A. 
Any person who violates or causes to be violated any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of an offense and be punishable as follows:
(1) 
For a first offense, by a fine not exceeding $350 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both.
(2) 
For a second offense, both of which were committed within a period of five years, by a fine of not less than $350 nor more than $700 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both.
(3) 
For a third or subsequent offense, all of which occurred within a period of five years, by a fine of not less than $700 nor more than $1,000 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both.
B. 
However, for the purpose of conferring jurisdiction upon courts and judicial officers generally, violations of this chapter shall be deemed misdemeanors and, for such purpose only, all provisions of law relating to misdemeanors shall apply to such violations. Each week's continued violation shall constitute a separate, additional violation.
