Every occupant of land and every owner of vacant land fronting on sidewalks in the Village of Perry shall keep said sidewalk clean and clear of ice, snow and other obstruction. If such occupant or owner shall fail to remove such ice, snow or other obstruction before 9:00 a.m. of each day, then the Superintendent of Public Works shall cause the same to be removed and such occupant or owner shall pay the cost of such removal. In cases where ice has formed on the sidewalk to such an extent that it cannot be readily removed, the sidewalk shall be sprinkled with salt, sawdust or sand within the time frame required by this section.
No person shall slide or coast on any sidewalk in the Village of Perry upon any sled, cart or other vehicle, and no roller-skating, roller-blading and/or skateboarding will be permitted on Main Street between Dolbeer Street and Gardeau Street, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
No person shall place any telephone or telegraph wire or pole or other wires in, upon or above any of the streets or public places in the Village of Perry without the written permission of the Board of Trustees, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
No person shall, without the written consent of the Board of Trustees, remove, cut, plant, break or injure any tree, plant or shrub in any of the streets or public places in the Village of Perry, nor shall any person injure, misuse or remove any device placed and intended to protect any tree, plant or shrub in part of the streets or public places in the Village of Perry, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
No person shall erect or maintain an awning in the streets of the Village of Perry which shall extend beyond the outer edge of the sidewalk, or the frame of which shall be less than 7 1/2 feet above the sidewalk, or any part of which awning shall be less than 6 1/2 feet above the sidewalk, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
No person shall place or cause to be placed any stone, brick, timber, lumber, plank, boards or other material for building in or upon any street, alley or public place in the Village of Perry, unless by a permit from the Board of Trustees and under its direction, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
No person shall grade, build, repair or alter any sidewalk or curbing in the Village of Perry, except under the supervision of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Perry, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
No person shall place or cause to be placed any boxes, barrels, crates or other receptacles, whether filled or empty, or any other obstruction upon any sidewalk or public place within the Village of Perry under a penalty as provided in § 376-10.
No person shall interfere with or injure any of the streetlamps, wires or other property connected with the lighting or fire alarm systems of said Village, under a penalty as provided in § 376-10 of this chapter.
Violations of this chapter shall be subject to a fine of not more than $250 or imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both. For violations of §§ 376-5, 376-6 and 376-8, there shall be a further penalty of $250 per day that any such articles or obstructions shall be or remain on such sidewalk or public place.
